Our Friend 50 may be getting the green light from FOX. The single-camera comedy is set to star rapper, producer and mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as himself, Variety revealed Wednesday (Dec. 2). The show has received a script order from FOX after it had been shopped around by multiple networks.
The series, produced by Jackson and Will Packer, and written by Ava Tramer, “revolves around Amanda Kramer, an unstable 20-something who believes that joining 50 Cent’s entourage is the answer to all her problems. Her unlikely journey with 50 Cent’s crew takes the form of a bizarre documentary commissioned by the most unreliable narrator in history — Amanda.”
If the show gets the go-ahead, Fiddy is bound to be busier than ever. The rapper recently debuted “Body Bags” off of his upcoming mixtape, Kanan, and has a lead role in the STARZ hit series, Power, which is beginning the filming process for its third season. It’ll be interesting to see how Fifty’s possible relationship with the network plays out, especially given his comical statements on FOX’s game-changing show Empire.
