Congrats are in order for Shonda Rhimes and her ABC family as the company’s new president announced full season renewals for the entire T.G.I.T. line up.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, entertainment president Channing Dungey announced early renewals of fan favorites, How to Get Away With Murder, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Black-ish, America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Dancing With the Stars, Fresh Off the Boat, The Goldbergs, Grey’s Anatomy, Agents of SHIELD, The Middle, Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Shark Tank and Quantico.
Dungey, the network’s former executive vice president of the drama department, was given the presidential title after the exit of her predecessor, Paul Lee. “We’re very proud of our strong roster of performers, and we’re excited about what they will bring us creatively next season,” said Dungey in a statement to Variety on Thursday.
Recent episodes from Black-ish and HTGWM have found clear and bold ways to present social issues like the criminal justice system and police brutality against people of color. Rhimes, the showrunner of Scandal, Grey’s and HTGWM, will premiere a new crime thriller titled, The Catch later this month. The show tells the story of Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos,) a fraud investigator who ironically is wooed by con man, leaving her to fight for her career and his ultimate capture.
