Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic U.S. Representative and Bronx native, will be the first guest on Desus & Mero’s new show. The number one show in late night will have its first episode on Showtime on Thursday, Feb. 21.
In the promo for the episode, Ocasio-Cortez says, “I am proud to announce that I will be forming an exploratory committee to be the first guest on Desus & Mero!” The hilarious duo pop up, and start hyping her and the show up. Ocasio-Cortez ends the clip with a resounding “yerrrr,” because if you know…you know.
It was announced in mid-2018 that the Bodega Boys would be ending their show’s Viceland run after two seasons for bigger and better things. When the Showtime deal was announced, the network’s president and CEO praised the Bronx natives and said they’re a welcome addition to the family.
“We have waited a long time to enter the talk show space, and we were only going to do it if we felt like we had the next big thing,” he said in a release. “Desus and Mero feel like exactly that: They have knockout comedic voices, they’re brilliant interviewers and they always have a unique take on culture both high and low.”
Upcoming guests on the show this season reportedly include Vince Staples, Pusha T, Issa Rae and Ben Stiller.
