One of Netflix’s most anticipated programs just received major news. Entertainment Weekly reports that A Tribe Called Quest member Ali Shaheed-Muhammad and producer Adrian Younge will team up to co-score Marvel’s Luke Cage drama.
Muhammad and Younge have previously joined instrumental forces on Kendrick Lamar’s “untitled 06 | 06.30.2014,” Blavity states, and will head back in the studio to cook up something magical for the online streaming show.
The program’s executive producer, Cheo Hodari Coker, said to EW that the music on Luke Cage will be “very sophisticated. I mean, it’s got a ’90s hip-hop vibe, but it’s really forward-thinking.” He later continued, “We have a lot of different musical appearances, but at the same time, we’ve got the Marvel action. We’ve got drama. I would like this to be, I mean, I know this is heavy but, The Wire of Marvel television, because we really deal with a lot of different issues.”
Luke Cage will debut this September on Netflix.
