On the heels of announcing her forthcoming autobiography My Voice, it’s just been revealed actress Lian Amado will portray seasoned radio personality, and now author Angie Martinez in the upcoming All Eyez On Me Tupac Shakur biopic.
“So excited to say I’m playing Angie Martinez in the Tupac film#ALLEYEZONME.” Amado wrote. “Grew up listening to her, want to make her proud!”
Demetrius Shipp Jr has been tapped to play the late rapper in the Benny Boom directed film. During her time on air at Hot 97, Martinez interviewed the passionate lyricist and explained in a recent interview with People when she learned Shakur had been killed, she was on air and had to tell the entire city the devastating news.
“I had to tell the whole city,” she says. “Mind you, there’s no Twitter, no Instagram … People in New York found out Tupac died from me.”
Martinez worked at Hot 97 for many years before making the jump to rival station Power 105.1 in 2014 where she hosts the afternoon show.
Very dope Ms. Martinez will be featured in the film.
