
Selma director Ava Duvernay, Hill Harper, MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry and Black Lives Matter will all be the toast of the town at the ImageNation Foundation’s forthcoming Revolution Awards.
Titled Cocktails Cinema and Revolution, attendees will enjoy a live performance as well as screen Lionsgate/Codeblack’s film 1982. Directed by Tommy Oliver, the film set in Philadelphia follows Harper as he attempts to provide for his daughter and hide his wife’s drug addiction from. After the screening, attendees will have a chance to speak with Oliver, Harper and image activist Michaela Angela Davis during a Q&A.
Past honorees ImageNation honorees include Erykah Badu, Congressman John Lewis, Lee Daniels, Talib Kweli, Spike Lee and more. The award ceremony and screening will take place Wednesday, February 10 at New York’s SVA theater.
