Production of the next film in the Bad Boys franchise as early as next year. According to an exclusive by Variety, Bad Boys For Life may possibly get the official green light by its distributor Sony to start production very soon.
The site reads “a new draft of a script appears to have met with the producers’ approval and it looks as though production on the sequel could begin in early 2019. The plan is for the third “Bad Boys” to be in theaters by Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in 2020.”
Variety also reports that Will Smith is “on board” to reprise the role of Detective Mike Lowrey, while the film is still waiting on word from Martin Lawrence to confirm he will return as Detective Marcus Burnett. However, he has been an outspoken voice regarding the possibility of a third film.
“Let’s do it again for sure,” wrote Lawrence in an Instagram comment section of a picture of he and Smith. Earlier in 2017, the comedian stated that a new film wasn’t up to him.
“If they wanted to do it, I’m ready, but I don’t have control of that,” said Lawrence. “That’s the studio’s decision.”
