One can assume Jerry Seinfeld has pretty cool friends, so when the comedian created his web series Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, which is exactly what the show is about, comedians in cars getting coffee, it’s safe to say Seinfeld doesn’t have a hard time booking talent.
Yet the 61-year-old funnyman, despite his crop of A-List friends, scored the guest of a lifetime when he got a chance to drive around with President Barack Obama. The premise of the show follows Seinfeld as he picks up famous comedians in vintage cars where they have random conversation, and then grab a cup of Joe where the random conversations continue.
In the episode featuring the Commander In Chief, President Obama and Seinfeld are seen LOLing in a a silver-blue 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe. Being as though Obama is the leader of the free world, the two couldn’t actually leave the White House grounds so they settled for a swing around the driveway, which was a breath of fresh air for the president who isn’t allowed behind the wheel of a car.
For the coffee portion, the two enjoyed a fresh cup inside the staff dining room in the White House basement. Seinfeld had nothing but high praises of the President and the experience, which he likened to traveling to outer space.
“Growing up in the ’60s my kid dream was always to be an astronaut — doing a comedy show with President Obama in and around the White House felt like going into space,” he said. “Being President and just a cool guy to hang out with at the same time made the experience my own personal moonwalk. It was an unforgettable day.”
