The studio, which is preparing the world for Superman‘s revival (Zack Snyder‘s Man Of Steel), is currently in negotiations with Ben Affleck to direct The Justice League. The film would be a future tentpole film that would unite DC Comics’ marquee heroes and heroines, including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, and place them on the big screen for audiences and fanboys to drool over in HD.
After Joss Whedon changed the concept of superhero mash-up movies forever with The Avengers, which united Marvel’s Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk franchises into one megafilm, it seems that DC Comics and Warner Bros. cannot resist to attempt a similar move. As the parent company of DC Comics, Warner Bros. can act fast in getting the project off the ground since it has the movie rights locked up for all the publisher’s top characters.
Faster than a speeding locomotive, Affleck has jumped into the water feet first to direct the would-be project, and may actually be a good fit for the job since he’s a self-proclaimed comic book geek. We just hope that fanboys around the globe have forgotten his abysmal attempt at saving lives (and putting butts in seats) as the titular superhero in 2003’s Daredevil.
