Just when it seems like everyone and their mama has a reality show, minority and female racing enthusiasts are getting added to the mix and are changing the game.
The new BET show Changing Lanes will chronicle the lives of women and minorities from all walks of life who aspire to become top NASCAR drivers. Ten hopefuls will compete over the course of eight episodes for a spot on Max Siegel’s NASCAR Revolution Racing team.
Hosted by Ludacris, the elimination style series kicks off NASCAR’s Drive For Diversity Program Testing and Evaluation Combine. At the end of the rigorous application process, four finalists vie for the title in the Toyota All Star Showdown in Irwindale, CA.
Other reality shows have delved into motorsports but Changing Lanes is the first series to focus exclusively on minorities race car drivers. It captures the physical, emotional and psychological demands its competitors cope with daily plus it’s the perfect race car show 101 experience to educate viewers about America’s second most popular sport.
