Fans all over the world have been suggesting their directing picks to handle the critically acclaimed franchise. One of those names consistently being tossed around on numerous blogs and websites is Brad Bird. Best known as a director on animated properties like “The Simpsons,” “The Iron Giant,” and “The Incredibles” (which needs a sequel ASAP!), Brad Bird has stepped up his Hollywood value with his live-action debut, “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol.”
His affinity for great action shots and ability to handle an ensemble cast makes Brad an ideal choice for “Star Wars Episode VII.” Unfortunately for young padawons, Bird took to the social networking website, Twitter, to vehemently deny his association to the project.
On Friday, Bird wrote, “@rsavenell: You are on people’s lists as top choice for Star Wars, yet haven’t confirmed. Please end this tease!” Not doing Star Wars.”
More and more directors are disassociating themselves with the “Star Wars” project, but does this mean Disney is failing to lure a true talent to the job? A decision is likely to happen in the next few months, we’ll keep you all posted as more develops. Meanwhile, Brad Bird is building up anticipation for his hush-hush, secret sci-fi project, titled “1952,” which we’re eagerly looking forward to.
