The popular Marvel superhero franchise has made more than $2 billion worldwide for distributor 20th Century Fox. So, it is exciting to read that director Bryan Singer is confirming we will get two X-Men films in a row!
With another installment of the X-Men series ready to hit theaters, 20th Century Fox is sensing they’ve struck pay dirt with Days of Future Past. They’re more than right, as the trailer looks epically wonderful, and will be prepping a follow-up in the form of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Confirmed by director Bryan Singer via his Twitter page, the tweet contained only a vague reference that read “#XMen #Apocalypse 2016!”
The new movie is already slated to compete directly against Disney’s Alice in Wonderland sequel, and will beat The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to the big screen. For those unfamiliar, Apocalypse is based off of the 1990’s Age of Apocalypse storyline, which finds ancient mutant villain Apocalypse attempting to take over the world and enslave the human race. The new film also could find Famke Janssen and James Marsden returning back to the group, as the duo are not in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the former has made an appearance in The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman.
