Move over American Idol. Instead of mining the Americas for the next rising pop sensation, Netflix is providing a platform for the masses to find the next hip-hop star. And on top of that, expect an all-star cast to help do just that.
On the streaming platform’s new competition series, Rhythm + Flow, judges Cardi B, Chance The Rapper and T.I. will be going city to city to find unsigned and undiscovered hip-hop acts and help them get a step further in achieving their dreams. In addition to this core trio of judges, additional artists and industry power players will step in along the way to drop gems.
The series is produced by John Legend, Jeff Gaspin, Jesse Collins, Nikki Boella, Jeff Pollack, Mike Jackson, and Ty Stiklorius, and executive producer credits include Jesse Collins (Jesse Collins Entertainment); John Legend, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius (Get Lifted Film Co.); Jeff Gaspin (Gaspin Media); Nikki Boella; Jeff Pollack; Cardi B; Chance the Rapper; and T.I.
The 10 hour-long episodes will officially kick off in the fall of 2019, but for now, the judges are actively on the hunt for hungry, indie, hip-hop talent to step up to the plate. Readers if you know anyone who would like to audition (or if you are that person ready for their big moment to show and prove), head here to find out how. Auditions are set to begin this fall in cities like Chicago, Atlanta, New York and more.
We’ll be tuning in come the new year. Will you?
