Chance the Rapper is diving deeper into the world of TV and film. This time, he’s fusing cinema with music. The Chicago native is reportedly co-developing a new musical feature film, entitled Hope.
The film will reportedly follow a group of Chicago teens as they band together in order to affect change in their local community.
The screenplay will reportedly be written by Empire’s Carlito Rodriguez. Straight Outta Compton’s co-producer Scott Bernstein and Chance’s manager Pat Corcoran will bring the film to life alongside Chano himself. Chance’s frequent collaborator, Donnie Trumpet – who is known at Nico Segal – is also cited as a collaborator on the film.
This isn’t Chance’s first dabble in TV and film. The rapper most recently appeared in the comedy thriller Slice earlier this year. He has also flexed his acting chops during appearances on Saturday Night Live.
Unfortunately, Hope doesn’t have a release date or production schedule at this time. It’s also unclear who will star in the film or where it will ultimately be distributed. Stay tuned for more details in the near future.
