Charlamagne tha God is ready to tackle the conversation on mental health in a major way. The radio personality will appear in a first-ever TV special on the serious topic this month. The special, entitled, In Session: Live with Dr. Jess will feature a candid conversation between psychiatrist and New York Times Best-Selling author Dr. Jessica Clemons and Charlamagne.
The hour-long live discussion will reportedly discuss the stigmas surrounding mental health. It will also give fans and celebrity friends the opportunity to participate in the discussion.
Charlamagne has always been very vocal about his personal struggles with mental health and has encouraged others to seek counseling. In his latest book, Shook Ones, he opened up about his experience with anxiety.
“The first step was going to therapy,” he told Billboard coping with anxiety. “I had plenty of friends who dealt with anxiety and borderline depression that were on medication, but I didn’t think I needed any of that, so I figured I’d find someone to talk to. A lot of times, when you’re the go-to person, you got to ask yourself, who does the go-to person talk to? Sometimes you need to seek a professional opinion. God was telling me to go talk to someone.”
In Session: Live with Dr. Jess will air on Monday, Nov. 12, at 10p.m. EST on VH1.
