Saw‘s captivating series has introduced a new chapter to the legendary franchise. Spiral, starring Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Marisol Nichols, and more debuted its trailer on Wednesday (Feb. 5), depicting a murder mystery that’ll reel you in as to how it’ll end.
Since he first viewed Saw‘s debut in 2004, Rock said it was a no-brainer when the opportunity to join the franchise came across his table. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place,” he said via Variety.
For chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group that’ll distribute the film, Joe Drake said the new flick will pay homage to its horror predecessors through Rock’s new vision. The comedian will executive produce the film alongside its Saw originators, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
“This upcoming film will still be as mind-bending and intense as all the previous Saw films,” Drake said. “Chris conceived this idea and it will be completely reverential to the legacy of the material while reinvigorating the brand with his wit, creative vision and passion for this classic horror franchise.”
