Legendary gospel group, The Clark Sisters, are reportedly getting the biopic treatment. The singing sisters’ story will also be in great hands, as Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, and Missy Elliott are reportedly producing a television film based on their rise.
The announcement was made at a recent event, and the fabulous members—Dorinda, Jacky, Karen, and Twinkie— also confirmed the news on their Instagram page.
“It is with great anticipation that we share with you the story of the Clark Sisters ‘You Brought The Sunshine’ coming early 2019 we are so excited,” they wrote in the caption of the accompanying teaser trailer for the film. Of course, You Brought The Sunshine is the title of The Clark Sisters’ eighth studio album, which was the group’s first album to be certified Gold.
Although it’s slated to air in early 2019, no word on the exact official air date or who will portray the quintet. However, reports are swirling that the film will air on Lifetime.
The Clark Sisters have been showing off their enviable pipes for several decades and are the highest-selling female gospel group in history. Dorinda, Jacky, Karen, and Twinkie have three Grammy Awards as a group—all for their 2007 effort Live – One Last Time.
