Common wants to suit up in the green and black for this superhero flick. The Chi-town native vows that he will still pursue the role of Green Lantern which is allegedly set to role out in theaters on June 19, 2020.
The “Glory” rapper had the role in his grasp in the late 2000s, but the casting never occurred. If his cards are played right, the Oscar-winning lyricist will be able to fulfill his dream of playing John Stewart.
In an interview with Screen-Rant, Common stated he sees many parallels between his personality and Stewart’s character.
“John Stewart is from Detroit, so he was this guy that was really for the community, and I really related to that. He used his powers to help people in the community,” he said. “I was like, ‘Man, I’m going to be John Stewart, the Green Lantern!’ Unfortunately, it didn’t happen at that time. But maybe the possibility is that it could. I would love to.”
