If you loved the thought-provoking, suspenseful box office hit that was Get Out, you should keep an eye out for an upcoming horror film about a black lesbian couple, led by filmmaker Dee Rees and Get Out producer Jason Blum.
Reportedly, Rees approached Blum with the idea at a recent event for Sundance Institute benefactors in Los Angeles.
“You’ve got me and my wife, two black lesbians, and when we first moved in, we fought every day over all these little things: ‘Why is this over there? Did you move that?’” the Bessie director says. “Maybe it was a ghost, or maybe it was some other force — like us not wanting to be there or fitting in.”
Blum was apparently intrigued by the pitch, and the two have already met to discuss the specifics. No further details are currently available, but it will be interesting to see if this film impacts society in the same way as Jordan Peele’s debut masterpiece.
