E! News has confirmed the Academy Award winner will direct the episode, which will begin filming later this month and air during November sweeps.
The show was written by Grey’s head writer Stacy McKee, and if we know anything about Shondaland, we can be sure they’ll be a unforeseeable twist, leaving us with our jaws and edges on the floor.
Washington’s Grey’s Anatomy directorial gig is the first time he’s directed for the small screen. The seasoned Hollywood A-lister has directed The Great Debaters as well as 2002’s Antoine Fisher.
