Donald Faison just can’t seem to get away from the hopsital garb.
The funnyman from Scrubs is in negotiations to play Dr. Gravity in Matthew Vaughn‘s Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. In the movie, Faison will be a copy writer by day who dresses up as a superhero by night and wants to start a superhero group called Justice Forever. Vaughn’s MARV Films is financing the project, and Universal will distribute domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Vaughn also directed the first movie, but will be in the producer’s chair with this one. Jeff Wadlow will step on to direct the sequel.
In the Mark Millar comics, Doctor Gravity claims to be a physics professor at Columbia University — where he designed his iconic, “Gravity Pole.” Yet, in reality, the story is more of an aspiration as the masked character is actually a Columbia undergraduate English major — not a physics professor — and the “Gravity Pole” is little more than a standard baseball bat wrapped in tin foil.
Aaron Johnson and Chloe Moretz are reprising their roles of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl respectively. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is coming back as the villainous Red Mist. While Millar has promised that the film will be controversial, yet Mintz-Plasse has asserted that the story’s most controversial (and gratuitous) plot arc will not be included.
Either way, the movie will adapt the recent Kick-Ass 2 comic mini-series, as well as Hit-Girl, which is in the middle of its run, and the film will be released in 2013.
