New day, new deals and Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, is getting in on it all. The actor/rapper will be adding another title to his résumé as he takes on the role of executive producer in a new comedy series called Atlanta. The show will follow the story of two cousins who are on the rise in Atlanta’s rap world and is set to have stars such as Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz to be a part of the show’s cast.
“Atlanta draws on Donald’s considerable talents as a musician, actor and writer to give us something unique,” Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX, conveys in a recent statement. “The story is made all the more powerful by the great cast and the contributions of Donald’s fellow executive producer Paul Simms and director Hiro Murai. We can’t wait for the debut of Atlanta next year.”
The series has been ordered by FX, The Wrap reports, and received the green light for a first season that’ll be produced by FX Productions. Glover will team up with Dianne McGunigle and Paul Simms as executive producers. Atlanta is slated to premiere in 2016.
