Over the weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, De Niro expressed his disdain for the GOP’s threat of a shut down and Donald Trump’s involvement with the birther movement (which we posted yesterday) but today, Trump fired back.
“Well he’s not the brightest bulb on the planet,” said Trump of De Niro during a phone interview on “Fox & Friends.” “I’ve been watching him over the years and I like his acting, but you know in terms of when I watch him doing interviews and various other things, we’re not dealing with Albert Einstein.”
It’s common knowledge that De Niro hates doing interviews (which is probably why he may come off a certain way) but how does not agreeing with certain behavior make him stupid? The same word could be used to describe Trump’s behavior or the general banter between the Republican and Democratic parties, respectively.
Politicians and political activists (or those who are aspiring to be the aforementioned things) are supposed to be diplomatic but is anyone really putting that theory to practice?
