In the new trailer for The Fate of The Furious, Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto does the unthinkable. He throws his loyalty to the wind and betrays the only family he’s ever known, which is a heart wrenching concept for fans of the Fast and Furious franchise to digest. However, there isn’t much time to cry about it because there’s a colossal wrecking ball coming down the road 49 seconds into the nearly three minute vignette of the film.
In the F. Gary Gray movie, the director pulls out all the stops to make the eighth installment the biggest one yet. The void left from Paul Walker’s character Brian O’ Connor has yet to be revealed, but is briefly honored during the trailer.
As it goes, the usual suspects are back for nearly impossible high-speed chases, explosives, faster cars than before and the occasional “Oh sh*t did that really happen” moment. A tank somehow shows up and then out of no where a submarine because, why the hell not? Academy-Award winner Charlize Theron is the resident badass in the film, while Jason Strahan returns with intricate fight sequences and better tailored suits.
The brief trailer gives no real indication as to why Toretto would betray his comrades, but fans will find out soon enough when The Fate of The Furious hits theaters April 14, 2017.
