The legendary ‘Battle of the Bastards’ set the stage, but was going to be tough to top and Game of Thrones absolutely delivered on an epic finale that had a little bit of everything to quench your thirst. With no cliff hanger, “The Winds of Winter” satisfied its viewers with what they wanted to see. These back to back episodes to end the season are in a different stratosphere of entertainment.

Cersei lost it all as far as her family and loyalty go, but she is back on the Iron throne as the Queen. The show teased that King’s Landing had wildfire underneath it during dialogue in prior episodes. Right before what was supposed to be her trial, Cersei incinerates the Sept of Baelor with a green explosion unlike anything we’ve seen before. Goodbye High Sparrow. R.I.P. Maergery.
King Tommen saw enough after losing his Queen Maergery. Jumping from the window of his room, taking King’s landing literally, as Cersei lost her last child.
Arya made a quick trip across Westeros, as she checked off another victim off of her list. Extracting revenge from ‘The Red Wedding’ in a great scene, murdering Walder Frey.
Jon Snow was made King of the North with Sansa Stark by his side. The popular fan theory was proven to be true, as Jon has Targaryen blood in him and is not in fact Ned Stark’s bastard son, but his sister Lyanna’s. Snow went from dead at the beginning of the season, to the King and a main character going forward in 10 episodes. The complex script somehow made it work.

The scene is set for season 7 as we are left with the visual of Daenerys sailing west with Tyrion at her side, a fleet of ships, her allies and her dragons. It took her six seasons, but she is finally on her way to ruling the seven kingdoms. Season 7 cannot get here soon enough.
Season 6 was as mind blowing as television can get, as the plot took turns in multiple directions throughout, keeping us guessing until the very end. Check out the best fan reactions on Twitter from the finale below.
