Gayle King has reportedly doubled her CBS salary from $5 million a year to $11 million a year, according to Page Six.
The CBS This Morning host flirted with the idea of leaving the network and allegedly went into negotiations wanting “Stephanopoulos Money,” a nod to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos’s reported $15 to $18 million salary.
King’s bestie, Oprah Winfrey encouraged her to demand the higher payday.
“I said, ‘Get what you want. Get exactly what you want, because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move,’ ” Oprah said in her recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
King’s new salary comes months after her explosive interview with R. Kelly and also being named one Time 100’s most influential people. The new salary also means she’ll be staying with the morning show, while co-host Norah O’Donnell will anchor “CBS Evening News” and Jeff Glor will reportedly be out.
The news of the new morning lineup will be announced Monday. (May 6) Congratulations to Ms. King.
