On Wednesday (July 17), the trailer for the star-studded Hustlers film debuted, highlighting appearances from Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Constance Wu, Lizzo, and Cardi B.
Complex reports that Lorene Scafaria’s drama is based on The Cut‘s article “The Hustlers at Scores” by Jessica Pressler, who describes the story as “a modern Robin Hood story for you: a few strippers who stole from (mostly) rich, (usually) disgusting, (in their minds) pathetic men and gave to, well, themselves.”
Cardi B will grace the box office for the first time, and writer/director Scafaria was determined to cast the “Money” artist in the feature film but it was not an easy task. Scafaria previously told Vulture, “I chased Cardi for two years,” and admitted that the connection happened through a direct message. “I got back a ‘We know, we’ll get back to you,'” she said. “I didn’t know if I was talking to her or somebody else.”
