The wildly popular photo sharing app has turned two. So, what does one get the service that has everything?!
When Instagram made its debut in October 2010, it quickly hit the scene running and took the entire Internet by storm. Within two years of its existence, the service has been a boon for would-be celebrities, fanboys, and picture fiends — allowing the service to be gobbled up by Facebook for $300 million in cash and 23 million shares of stock. On the eve of their second anniversary, Instagram celebrates accomplishing what many Internet companies still hope for with their over 100 million registered users.
Other applications who offered the same services as Instagram have shut its doors earlier this year (see: PicPlz) while others have found themselves laying off practically entire staffs. Instagram is literally killing their competition! The photo sharing app had an average of 7.3 million daily active users while spending 257 minutes on the app while Twitter had only 6.9 million over the same time period and spent 170 minutes viewing.
So, maybe a picture does say a thousand words?!
