
Jaden Smith galavanting around in superhero costumes might start to make a little more sense in the near future. The actor, rapper and offspring of Will Smith has been rumored to be taking on the role of DC Comics’ first black teenage hero, Static Shock. And in a recent Comic-Con interview with Walking Dead star Tyler James Williams, the news was seemingly confirmed.
Discussing the prospect of taken on a superhero role of his own, Williams alluded to Marvel’s black Spider-Man. He also expressed content with Smith’s role.
“It’s great to see Static Shock is happening with Jaden,” he said.

If the news is in fact true, Jaden will be following in his father’s footsteps yet again. The elder Smith is currently shooting the Suicide Squad film, based on the DC Comic. Starring as Deadshot, the film is slated for a 2016 release.
