It seems as if the talented twosome of Jamie Foxx and Kevin Hart will be starring together in Screen Gems’ upcoming The Black Phantom, with Tim Story in discussions to direct.
If a deal between all parties go through, Phantom would reteam Hart and Story with their Ride Along producer Will Packer, who is producing the picture alongside Will Gluck. After the success of the partnership, paired with Foxx’s interest in working with Hart, the project seems like a match made in heaven for all four men.
The story follows a double-crossed mob hitman (assumed to be played by Hart) who enlists the help of the Black Phantom (Foxx). Unbeknownst to the hitman, the Phantom is the same person who had been sent out to kill him.
Dave Lease and Megan Hinds originally penned the script, as Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper has stepped in to oversee the project for the studio. Given Hart’s continuous box office winning streak, Foxx’s appearances in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the Annie reboot, the pairing could be a huge win for Screen Gems.
While there aren’t any true specifics yet as to which roles Foxx and Hart will play, the former’s experience in action movies has us believing he will play the titular character. We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
