Jennifer Hudson might have another Oscar-worthy performance on her hands. Although nothing is set in stone, J. Hud will definitely be considered by the academy for a trophy if she does play Aretha Franklin in this forthcoming biopic.
It looks like talks are getting closer to casting the “Walk It Out” singer. According to TheWrap, the award-winning vocalist’s representative hinted that the Chi-town native might just portray the Queen of Soul. The film will be led by Straight Outta Compton producer Scott Bernstein.
In a previous interview with Billboard, the “Respect” legend talked about her backing of the movie, and what part she thinks will be imperative. “The singing is certainly going to be a very, very integral and important part of it.”
There’s no word on when the reel will arrive in theaters, but we’re keeping a close eye on further developments.
