Looks like Andre 3000 got his Halloween costume early.
Andre Benjamin stars as the rock god Jimi Hendrix in the biopic “JIMI:ALL IS BY MY SIDE” Written and directed by “12 Years of Slave” writer John Ridley, moviegoers get a glimpse into the short life of Hendrix. The film covers the year 1966-1967, as Hendrix emerges from just an unknown backup guitarist playing New York’s Cheetah Club to making his mark in London’s music scene.
Just like Jamie Foxx in his 2004 Oscar winning role, “Ray” viewers will have a difficult time differentiating between the musician who famously awoken the thousands of Woodstock attendees with his rendition of The Star Spangled Banner and that with one of hip-hop’s most talented lyricist. Clad in his 1960’s London mod look, Dre’s even got Jimi’s soft UK accent down to a science!
