Boyega is set to play the son of Stacker Pentecost, the ill-fated commanding officer from the first film, as played by Idris Elba. The project is set to be directed by Steven S. DeKnight and produced by Guillermo del Toro, who also directed the first film. The Pacific Rim sequel is just one of a handful of projects Boyega has on his plate. Aside from Stars Wars: Episode VIII, the budding actor is set to star alongside Tom Hanks in an adaptation to the Dave Eggers novel The Circle.
