Jordan Peele is promoting his upcoming film Us in a peculiarly twisted, yet brilliant way. The multi-hyphenate has been sending select entertainment figures their own pair of golden scissors, which mirror the scissors seen in film’s latest promotional poster.
Members of the entertainment world, including host Jamila Mustafa and producer Akela Cooper, received the scissors in a plush, red velvet case with a note attached which read: “On December 25, join the Untethering. Watch yourself. Jordan Peele.” A link to the film’s site is also included.
Us was announced in spring of this year, which featured a promotional poster of two young children. The “social thriller” is slated to star Lupita Nyong’o, Black Panther’s Winston Duke, and The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elisabeth Moss. The film is not yet rated, and is expected to be released in March 2019. This will be the second thriller from the mind of the multi-talented comedian, whose film Get Out garnered rave reviews and helped him receive an Academy Award for “Best Original Screenplay.”
Peele is also hoping to take over the television landscape. In May, it was announced that he has an upcoming series coming to Amazon, the politically-charged The Hunt. The show reportedly depicts Nazi hunters in the 1970s, and is slated to appear on the service in 2019.
