Acclaimed director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intruders) is no stranger to making people jump out their seats. It seems as if he’s ready to bring his talents into Stephen King’s world for a remake film.
Hate it or love it, but it seems as if Paramount has pegged the Spaniard filmmaker to helm the remake of Pet Sematary.
Produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, R.E.D. 2), this seems to be moving quicker than what many expected. The original Pet Sematary, written by Stephen King, followed a family that moves into a new home next to a cemetary that contains the powers to bring back to life creatures (and humans) who died.
It originally raked in $57 million on only a $11 million budget, which propelled the studio to create a 1992 sequel starring Edward Furlong and Anthony Edwards.
Matt Greenberg (1408) and David Kajganich (It, Blood Creek) will be writing the rebooted script.
