The middle Lyon brother ended the season on a cliffhanger as to whether or not he was assassinated. To shock fans a little bit more, the actor who plays Jamal, Jussie Smollett, tweeted out a statement that’s leading viewers to believe he’s gone off the show for good.

But according to Entertainment Weekly, fans won’t have to mourn Smollett’s alleged departure from the mega hit program. The site states that he’s still under a contract with the television show.
Since Empire‘s debut in 2015, the show has raked in millions of viewers each week, making it one of the more successful shows in primetime television to date.
