
According to Stephen Colbert himself, Kendrick Lamar is set to show face on Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert and debut the show’s first musical guest appearance.
Colbert announced K. Dot’s forthcoming for the after hours program on Monday (Aug. 10) at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills. “My last musical guest [on “The Colbert Report”] was Kendrick Lamar, and I would love for him to be my first musical guest. In fact he will be my first musical guest,” the political news satirist said. “I wish I could have done better than George Clooney, but he’ll do for the first guest.” Since David Letterman’s departure, Colbert filled the host’s seat for the Late Show franchise, which will debut on Sept. 8.

Luckily, he’s already made some acquaintance with the Compto-bred TDE labeler from his Dec. 14 special guest appearance with K. Dot on “The Colbert Report.” Kendrick was also Colbert’s first musical guest for the 10-season Comedy Central television show as well. During the segment, K. Dot dished on his recognition of this generation’s west coast rap leader, his preference to label himself a writer versus a rapper and even spit a bar or two for Colbert.
