Kevin Hart’s coining of the phrase “comedic rockstar” is more than just a hashtag. The funnyman solidified his position with the biggest standup comedy tour of all-time, What Now? in 2015. Taking the colossal achievement of its run to the silver screen, the tour will get the film treatment, documenting Hart’s record-breaking performance at the Lincoln Financial Field in his Philadelphia hometown. With 50,000 in attendance, it’s safe to say this upcoming special will be a very big deal.
Hart’s What Now? tour spanned 112 cities, 13 countries and 5 continents over the course of 156 shows. Just how big of a big deal this special is was made clear in a description for the film on its website:
In Universal Pictures’ Kevin Hart: What Now?, comedic rock-star Kevin Hart follows up his 2013 hit stand-up concert movie Let Me Explain, which grossed $32 million domestically and became the third-highest live stand-up comedy movie of all time. Hart takes center stage in this groundbreaking, record-setting, sold-out performance of “What Now?”—filmed outdoors in front of 50,000 people at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field—marking the first time a comedian has ever performed to an at-capacity football stadium.
