“What’s this? What’s this!” It looks like the comedy dream team Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are teaming up with movie director Henry Selick to make a stop-motion film about two demonized brothers forced to face an evil arch nemesis and other fearful foes. It is tentatively called “Wendall and Wild.” Selick is known for directing the Disney film The Nightmare Before Christmas as well as 2009’s Coraline.
Stop-motion is an animation technique in which an object looks as though it’s moving on its own. Each movement is shot frame by frame, so it can take years to make a full length stop-motion movie. Variety reports that there hasn’t been a buyer for the film, but the creative team for “Wendall and Wild” is in love with the premise and are passionate about the project.
After announcing that they’re working on separate projects and ending their sketch comedy show Key & Peele, the dynamic duo have been keeping busy. Key will be voicing a character on the upcoming television show based on the app Angry Birds, and Peele can be seen on the CBS comedy, Life In Pieces.
