Looks like Kid Cudi has decided not to take part in the shenanigans the Lyon family has to offer in the second season of the FOX hit, Empire.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Scott Mescudi was slated to play Gram, an indie act that dates singer Tiana (Serayah McNeill,) the former love interest of Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Gray.) The role would have more than likely created new rivalry for Gray’s character. Sources claimed Cudi left the series over “creative differences.” The artist seemed to be relatively quiet on the role at the time of the announcement last month. Instead, he’s been sharing details about two (!) upcoming albums and his love for the Netflix hit Stranger Things on Twitter. Romeo Miller will now take over the role.
He also quietly announced the new on Wednesday (Aug. 31.) The actor/rapper recently appeared in Jarhead 3: The Seige and the We reality series, Growing Up Hip Hop.

Other popular guests this season include Taye Diggs , Phylicia Rashad French Montana. Diggs will play a popular city councilman who is the son of Diana Dubois (Rashad,) a prominent and respected family.
The loss of the role for Cudi could be a major gain for fans who have been waiting for new music. Since releasing a snippet of his “Magic” collaboration with Pharrell at Trillectro, fans are more than ready to fall into the feels of his new tunes. The recently announced Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin project is expected to be released by the end of the summer.
As for the Lyon family, they plan to return to the small screen Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
