Family, friends, and fans are still grieving the loss of mother, model, and actress Kim Porter, who sadly passed away at the age of 47 on Nov. 15. Since her death, many have shared sweet stories or memories they shared with Porter. Film producer Dallas Austin, in particular, shared a memory from their prom and revealed their past relationship actually inspired the love story in the 2002 movie Drumline.
“This is the hardest post I’ve ever had to do,” Austin wrote in a post on Instagram on Nov. 17. “My mom and Kim’s mom was pregnant with us at the same time in Columbus…I have never known a life without Kim porter from kindergarten through all of our lifelong experiences in high school, having matching bmws or her being the biggest believer in me making it as a producer and us getting out of Columbus to be somebody ..and we made it!! we were inseparable I feel like a part of my soul has been taken away.”
He also spoke about how their romance inspired the love scenes in Drumline, which was portrayed by Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana. “Most people don’t know that Zoe Saldana played the role of Kim in Drumline as Nick Cannon played my character,” he revealed. “We saw purple rain 15times in the theater and if you knew her you knew a strong beautiful smiling gangster angel ! I know GOD is perfect but sometimes even perfect can make a mistake.”
Austin’s story has not been verified at this time. Nevertheless, Porter is remembered has a vibrant soul, talented business woman, and loving mother to all that knew her.
