Don’t expect to see Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno hug it out anytime soon. Kimmel, the ABC late night host is on the cover of the new issue of Rolling Stone, and he let’s loose his real opinion on his rival. In the cover story, Kimmel slams Leno, saying Leno “sold out.”
Of course, Kimmel slams Leno at almost every opportunity – the former “Man Show” host once impersonated Leno on his show in a not-so-flattering light, and last year put it simply when asked his opinion of Leno: “F*** him.”
Kimmel slams Leno in Rolling Stone, and the money quote is this: “As a comedian, you can’t not have disdain for what he’s done: He totally sold out.”
Leno caught major flack in the comedy community after the drawn-out saga involving Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show and NBC. And while other comics have voiced their opinions, including David Letterman, the fact that Kimmel slams Leno in no uncertain terms adds more fuel to a fairly contentious late night rivalry.
By the way, after Kimmel slams Leno, he has nothing but kind words for Letterman, whom Kimmel considers his late night idol.
