While the masses thought their cinematic prayers had been answered with the sequel of T.I.’s 2006 hood classic ATL, it looks like they may have to keep the faith. The rapper’s co-star, Lauren London has revealed that the film has not been set in stone. In a recent interview with The YBF, the actress attempted to simmer the chatter by calling the prospective ATL 2 a “concept.”
“It’s not definitely in the works,” she said. “I don’t want to be the spokesperson for it. I don’t want people take my word for it. So, no. Right now it is a concept and there’s a lot of possibilities with that.”

Discussing what would be the new storyline of her character New-New – if the sequel does happen – London was hesitant to make predictions or give any ideas. She did express, however, that she would like for ATL’s leading lady to retain her funky sense of style.
“But I would still want New-New’s fashion to be…I feel like the character and all her aesthetics should remain important,” she said. “Like her hair and her lipgloss, [etc.], I wouldn’t want to lose that. Even though she does grow up, I think she should still be funky, fresh and spunky. I would keep that.”
While London doesn’t seem to be making any definitive statements, T.I. promoted the sequel in full force earlier this year. In an interview with Global Grind, the rapper/actor assured that the entire ATL cast would be returning for the reboot.
“It’s a sequel where everyone’s coming back, there isn’t any holdouts,” he said. “Nobody’s saying ‘No, I’m not doing it,’ regardless of any success they’ve assumed afterwards or how many other projects they have to work on. Everybody’s coming back. And I think that, to me, is a sign of a sequel.”
