When you wish upon a Death Star, what you receive may just be what you asked for!
The new “Star Wars” trilogy is making some healthy progress, as Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have closed deals to write and produce the sci-fi space opera. The pair’s duties haven’t been confirmed for either “Episode VIII” or “Episode IX,” but both will be ready to bring their A-game to the genre.
As The Hollywood Reporter previously reported, Oscar winner Michael Arndt (“Toy Story 3,” “Little Miss Sunshine”) is currently writing the script for “Episode VII,” which still doesn’t have a director attached. This will mark the first “Star Wars” films to be made without the hands-on input of creator George Lucas.
Word of Kasdan and Kinsberg’s involvement began spilling out Tuesday, but Disney and LucasFilm are declining to content. But the official announcement will be made via the StarWars.com website, according to the studio. Kasdan’s credits include co-writing 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back,” as well as 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.”
