Lifetime has finally set an air date for its Aaliyah biopic. The network announced Nov. 15 as the premiere for Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, which boasts a script based on author Christopher Farley’s Aaliyah: More Than a Woman biography. The movie’s production team casted Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp to play the iconic vocalist, which was previously held by Zendaya Coleman before she backed out of the role. Aaliyah’s family also said that they’ll pursue legal action to prevent this movie from airing. [Madame Noire]
The Season 4 preview of Key and Peele reveals big bangs and an even bigger budget. The comedic duo are back again, and this time their adventures have led them to survive the alien apocalypse. In this new world (and new set of CG graphics), the only way to differentiate between who’s human and who’s an alien is to take down the man, literally. Watch the first clip here. [Vulture]
Everybody hates watching child stars growing up and for Everybody Hates Chris actress Imani Hakim, the time has come. Hakim is set to star in her first romantic lead as Carmen in the film, Chocolate City. Hopefully, she’ll be yelling “hallelujah” and not “mama” as it rains men in the stripper themed feature. With Tyson Beckford and Darrin Hewitt Henson as shirtless co-stars, it’ll be hard for anyone not to call on the Lordt at some point. [YBF]
The magic is gone for Matthew McConaughey. The actor announced that he won’t be starring in the XXL sequel of Magic Mike. [Vulture]
