The hype surrounding Marvel’s Black Panther has increased since its cast was revealed at the 2016 Comic Con Convention in San Diego, California. After the film’s panel on Saturday (July 23), cast members walked the red carpet and revealed some of the movie’s plot. Among the most notable was Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, who will portray Nakia, a classic Marvel character who has been romantically linked to Black Panther.
“Black Panther’s leadership is being threatened by two foes that come together”, Nyong’o said. “and so Black Panther gets the help of the CIA and the Dora Milajei to try to defeat the enemy.”
Upon revealing these small plot details, Nyong’o joked that she revealed too much. “Someone’s going to fire me shortly. I have to shut up now.” Aside from the addition of Nyong’o , Black Panther will star Chadwick Boseman as the titular hero, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Michael B. Jordan as resident bad guy Erik Killmonger. The film, directed by Ryan Coogler, is set to be released in theaters on Feb. 16, 2018.
