Hollywood’s youngest executive producer is on the move. Marsai Martin just landed a first-look deal with Universal to develop new projects for the studio through her Genius Productions imprint, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Thursday (Feb. 7).
The 14-year-old Black-ish star is the youngest person to score a first-look contract with Universal, and the youngest in “recent memory” to land a development deal with at any studio, THR notes. Martin’s first project with the studio will be a comedy called, StepMonster, about a young girl adjusting to her new stepmom, Deadline reports.
The teen will star in the film and develop the script along with Genius Productions co-founder, Joshua Martin and vice-president, Carol Martin (who also happen to be her parents) and Prince Baggett, the company’s head of creative affairs.
Martin scored her first executive producer’s credit in the upcoming comedy, Little, in which she also stars opposite Regina Hall and Issa Rae. The comedy, about a woman who transforms into her younger self, hits theaters on April 12.
