Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown got off to a rough start during her first appearance as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.” The ex-Spice Girl, also known as Mel B, was boo’ed by audience members in New Orleans yesterday (Mar. 4) after criticizing a popular brass band.
Lagniappe — who recently appeared alongside Kelly Clarkson for the city’s 2013 Mardi Gras — is an internationally-known Big Easy band. Before performing for “America’s Got Talent,“ the band took to their Facebook page to express their excitement:
“Tomorrow we audition for America’s Got Talent in front of the celebrity judge panel – cross your fingers!”
When Mel B. proceeded to share that she was not a fan of the genre however, she received criticism from people in the audience yelling “Go home” and “No respect!” This is the singer’s second encounter with a displeased reality audience. She was also boo’ed for telling an 81-year-ol contestant that his performance made her want to “fall asleep” while judging “X-Factor U.K.”
Replacing Sharon Osbourne, Mel B has signed on alongside Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum to judge the eighth season of the popular talent search show.
