When comic book nerds learned a Fantastic Four reboot would hit theaters, fans were geeked at the the thought their favorite quartet would soon be here to save the day.
However, when “purist” of the franchise learned Fruitvale Station actor Michael B Jordan would be cast as Johnny Storm, who in the comics is depicted as a white man with blond hair and blue eyes, the trolls–in troll fashion–had a few unkind words.
Never one to let the negativity effect him, Jordan–who earned the blessing from Fantastic Four creator Stan Lee–wrote an open letter on Entertainment Weekly to his critics blasting them for their ignorance and challenging them to see past color.
To the trolls on the Internet, I want to say: Get your head out of the computer. Go outside and walk around. Look at the people walking next to you. Look at your friends’ friends and who they’re interacting with. And just understand this is the world we live in. It’s okay to like it.
Beautifully said, Mr. Jordan.
