The Rolling Stones front man, Mick Jagger, has signed on as a producer of the forthcoming biopic of James Brown.
Jagger, who also knew Brown personally, is looking to bring the life of the Godfather of Soul to the big screen. By joining producer Brian Grazer in developing the film for the screen, Jagger is ecstatic about the prospect of showing the world another side to the master of “The One,” saying, “It’s a great honor to be involved with a project as rich as the story of the legendary James Brown. He was a mesmerizing performer with a fascinating life.”
What is sure to become a hot casting couch topic, there is no word yet on who will play James Brown himself, but there is talk of who will direct. Tate Taylor, the man behind the Oscar-winning film “The Help,” is said to be in talks for the job. In production since 2004, with Brown himself being involved before his death in 2006, the untitled James Brown biopic will revolve around the singer’s violent and poverty stricken childhood to become the world’s biggest soul star on the planet.
